Uayná Tears of Poison (2010)

 

This short fiction film was shot in Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas state. It tells the story of Urê, who, born male into the fictional Ycamiabas people, is placed in a pot and thrown into a waterfall for being born a man. Kay Sara played Urê's mother when she was young.

Kay Sara participated in the feature film by Italian director Giorgio Diritti: “Un Giorno Devi Andare” (2013), in the role of “Angela”. The film tells the story of Augusta who travels through the Amazon in search of herself.

TI'SADIARIMAHSÃ - Romeo and Juliet (2015)

 

Kay Sara participated for the first time in a play, titled in the indigenous Tukano language, “Tisidiri Masã” (people who love each other), an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet (2015), in which Kay Sara played the character Juliet, directed by Day Nunes, and with dramaturgy by Anderson Kary.

The film “Before Time Ran Out” (2016), directed by Sérgio Andrade and Fábio Baldo, tells the story of Anderson, a young indigenous man living in Manaus who faces conflicts between his cultural identity and his sexuality. Kay Sara played the character "Prima" to Anderson.

The Black Earth of the Kawa (2018)

 

In 2017, Kay Sara received an invitation to play "Kandra" in the film "A Terra Negra dos Kawa" (2018), directed by Sérgio Andrade. The film is a science fiction story set in the Amazon, where a group of scientists investigates a mysterious black earth substance with inexplicable powers.

Aruanas Season 1 (2019)

 

In 2018, Kay Sara auditioned for her first role in a series called "Aruanas" (2019), playing "Payall," a woman nine months pregnant whose community is invaded. The series is a production of Marinha Farinha and Globo and addresses environmental issues in the Amazon. The series is available on Globo Play.

Brian or Brenda? (2019)

 

In 2019, Kay Sara was invited to be part of the play "Brian or Brenda?" (2019), with dramaturgy by Franz Keppler, directed by Yara de Novaes and Carlos Gradim. The play is based on the true story of David Reimer, a man who underwent sex reassignment surgery in childhood without his consent and lived as a woman until he discovered the truth. The play had two seasons in São Paulo, at the Centro Cultural São Paulo and the Viga Espaço Cênico. The cast included Augusto Madeira, Daniel Tavares, Giovanni Venturini, Jimmy Wong, Kay Sara, Lavínia Pannunzio, Marcella Maia, and Paulo Campos.

Frenetic Flow (2020)

 

In 2020, Kay Sara received an invitation to be part of the music video for the band NEOTRIBAIS - FLUXO FRENÉTICO (2020), directed by Ygor de Oliveira. In a future Brazil, leaders of historically oppressed peoples organize themselves into rebel movements, fusing technology and ancestral wisdom in order to recover possession of a sacred and extremely powerful object, extorted by the dominant political class years ago in order to subjugate the original peoples of the Earth.

Antigone in the Amazon (2023)

 

A 2023 theatrical production directed by Swiss playwright Milo Rau, created in collaboration with the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST). The work concludes Rau's "Trilogy of Ancient Myths," which transposes classical tragedies to contexts of global political and social conflicts. Starring actress Kay Sara, the performance gains strength in her interpretation of Antigone. In the play, Kay embodies resistance against agribusiness, uniting the Greek myth with the real struggle for the preservation of the Amazon and for the dignity and memory of those who defend the land.

Invisible City Season 2 (2023)

 

The series is a fantasy thriller that explores Brazilian folklore and urban legends. Kay Sara plays prosecutor Telma, who investigates supernatural crimes in the city. She is the natural heir to Jaciara and one day, when she is ready to surrender to the spiritual world, she will assume her grandmother's place as leader of her people. However, despite believing in the existence of entities and Jaciara's power, the prosecutor has never seen the invisible world as a path to her fight in defense of her people and the forest. But her worldview begins to be challenged when she meets Eric.

The film “Rich in Love 2” (2023), directed by Bruno Garotti, is a romantic comedy that shows the adventures and misadventures of a couple from different social classes, starring Danilo Mesquita and Giovanna Lancellotti. Kay Sara plays the character Wunin, a young indigenous woman who works in her community with alternative medicine, whose daily life is interrupted by Teto, a spoiled boy, son of a millionaire businessman.
